Woodhull ran in 1872. In
1872, Victoria Woodhull ran for President of the United States-at a
time when it was still illegal for her to even cast a vote. Eighty-three
years later, 67-year-old Emma Gatewood told her family she was "going
for a walk" and became the first woman to solo thru-hike the Appalachian
Trail.
